Kenya records 62 new virus cases, total rises to 1,348

Kenya on Tuesday recorded 62 new cases of Covid-19, raising the country's total number to 1,348, Health CAS Rashid Aman has said.

This is out of the 2,293 samples that were tested in the last 24 hours.

The total number of samples tested so far now stands at 64,264.

Of the new cases, 59 are Kenyans, while three are foreigners. 

 

Their ages are from six to 64 years.

Twenty-three of the cases were from Nairobi, Mombasa (16), Kajiado (6), Kwale (8), Kimabu (6) and Kitui (3).

The cases are distributed as follows; Nairobi; Umoja (6), Kibra (6), Eastleigh (3), Dagoretti North (2), Westlands (2), Starehe and Embakasi East each has one case.

Another three patients have been discharged, bringing the total to 405.

In Mombasa, the cases are from; Changamwe (9), Jomvu (3) and Mvita (1).

In Kwale, the cases are from Msambweni (4) and Lunga lunga (4).

In Kiambu, the six cases are from Lari (5) and Ruiru (1) while, Kajiado the cases are from Kajiado East (1).

The three cases from Kitui are from Miambani in Kitui rural.

Aman reiterated the importance of giving correct information to aid contact tracing.

"We are glad, however, that the majority of people have responded to our call to come out and get tested," he said.
