Expect heavy rainfall in some parts of the country this week - Met

Nairobi is among areas set to receive 70 mm rainfall from April 7-13.

The Meteorological Department has predicted that some parts of the country will receive heavy cumulative rainfall for the next week.

The weather forecast for April 7-13 indicates that Nairobi, Narok, Lamu, Taita Taveta, Kitui, Tharaka, Murang’a, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Tana River, Garissa, Mombasa and Kwale counties will receive 70 mm rainfall.

Nyamira, Bomet, Kisii, Kajiado, Nairobi, Machakos, Makueni, Meru, Kiambu, Embu and Kilifi counties will receive moderate rainfall of between 20-70 mm.

 
 

Light cumulative rainfall below 20 mm is expected over Mandera, Isiolo, Wajir, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, and Laikipia counties.

High daily-mean temperatures above 30˚C are expected over much of Northwest, Northeastern, Eastern and Coastal regions while moderate daily-mean temperatures between 20-30˚C are expected over Western and South-East regions.

The forecast indicated that the Eastern sector and a few areas over the Highlands East of the Rift Valley likely to experience above-average rainfall while the rest of the country is expected to experience near average rainfall in the month of April.

The forecast for the last one week had indicated that rainfall will be witnessed in Taita Taveta, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale and Kitui counties, Meteorological department said on Monday.

The Meteorological department noted this in the forecast that covered March 31 to April 6.

The weatherman noted that moderate cumulatively rainfall between 20-70 mm will be expected over some parts of Tana River, Kajiado, Narok, Kirinyaga, Makueni, Mombasa and Kitui counties.
