- Judicial team recommends construction of cells, perimeter fence and clearing of offices
- Governor Kimemia says court will help reduce the distance and time taken by residents to get justice
Nyandarua residents seeking justice will soon be saved the time and cost of travel following the completion of a new court in Ol Kalou town.
The new court, second in Nyandarua county after Engineer court, has been built by the county government at the defunct Ol Kalou Town Council offices.
The assistant registrar of the magistrate’s court in Nyahururu, Caroline Kabucho, said gazettement of the court will be effected by April 1, paving the way for its establishment if they county government will have acted on some recommendations by the Judiciary.
Kabucho spoke during a courtesy on Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia after inspecting the court's progress on Tuesday.
The team recommended construction of cells to hold prisoners and a perimeter fence to secure court and its users. They further recommended clearing of the adjacent offices to give the court’s personnel adequate space to operate.
On Tuesday Kimemia said operationalization of the court will help reduce the distance and time taken by residents to get justice. "This court will be a good beginning before the main High Court is completed in Ol Kalou,” he said.
Nyandarua county attorney Ann Githinji yesterday told the Star the Ol Kalou town court is 95 per cent complete. She said the court was one of the many steps towards bringing critical services in the county closer to the people.
“We are happy that this would be the second court before they open the High Court whose completion has delayed, she said.
