Residents of Nyang'oma in Siaya on Friday found the body of a man dangling from a rafter in his house.
Deputy county commissioner Samson Akach said Elkana Omondi, a teacher and father of 10, left behind a suicide note saying he was unable to replace the two laptops he had been accused of stealing.
Omondi accused two teachers of being behind the theft and said they would live to regret it.
The body was moved to Bondo Subcounty Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem and investigations have begun.
