Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang's mother is dead.
Dorcas Ajwang died in Kisumu on Sunday where she battled pneumonia for over three months.
Leaders including ODM chief Raila Odinga have condoled with the family saying her death is a great loss to the entire county.
"To the family of Mwalimu David Ajwang Nyakwamba, please accept our condolences on the passing of mama Dorcas Akumu Ajwang’, mother to the late Sen Gerald Otieno Kajwang’, Senator Moses Otieno Kajwang’, Hon TJ Kajwang’, Hon Peter Kajwang’ (MCA Kaptembwa Ward Nakuru), among many others.
"Mama Dorcas gave us fine public servants who have served our country in different capacities and will continue doing so while she is away, Raila wrote on his Facebook account.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult moment. Peace be with you, he added.
Dorcas was as a teacher and retired in the early 80s.
Former Kasipul MP Oyugi Magwanga described her as a dedicated Kenyan who gave the country and the county some of the best brains.
"As a family, we want to send our heartfelt condolence to the family of Kajwang. We are together in prayers during these tempting moments," he said.
On Sunday night Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo visited the family to condole with them.
Senator Kajwang has said the arrangements are being done to ensure that the late mother is given a descent send saying the public will be updated.
