A controversy has erupted in Kiharu constituency over the establishment of a vocational and technical training centre.

Wangu MCA Kamote Waciama has accused area MP Ndindi Nyoro of relocating the institution to the neighbouring Gaturi ward.

Waciama said the site of the centre was agreed on in 2013 when MCAs were summoned by the county commissioner to discuss where the centre would be put up.

The MCAs said stakeholders agreed to have it established at Mukangu youth polytechnic which had six acres.

“The centre would occupy five acres while the polytechnic would be left with one,” the MCA said. He organised protests against the relocation at Mukangu shopping centre.

Senator Irungu Kang’ata who was then MP wrote to the director of vocational training committing to have his CDF set aside Sh10 million for the project, he said.

But when Nyoro was elected he instead got another site for the project in Kiambugi at St Paul Secondary School, shortchanging the people of Wangu, the MCA alleged.

He said he will go to court to have the project constructed on its original site and secure justice for his people.

But Ndindi dismissed the MCA's allegations, saying it was a conspiracy by Kieleweke to destroy Tangatanga leaders in their areas.

He claimed four MCAs  from Kiharu, Maragua and Kandara constituencies were being used by some leaders.

“When a project is started, their role is to fight it to make it stall and paint us in bad light,” he said.

The MP said money was allocated for the project in the 2015-2016 financial year and is awaiting the stalemate on the site to be solved.

The MP who was speaking during a ground breaking ceremony of the centre at Kiambugi noted that another centre to be named after the late politician Kenneth Matiba will be constructed in Wangu ward.
