A pastor who runs children's home in Ruaraka, Nairobi, was yesterday charged with defiling a 13-year-old girl.

Moses Otunga was accused of defiling the girl on different dates between  November 1 and 21 last year at Lucky Summer estate.

The pastor was alternatively charged with indecently touching the minor.

Prosecution documents indicate the accused and his wife run a children's home in Lucky Summer.

The wife who helps in managing the orphanage had travelled out of the country for work for two months. Before leaving she told the alleged victim to sleep with other children.

But pastor Otunga asked the girl to sleep with him in the main house after the other children were asleep.

He instructed the girl to sleep in the visitors' room.

Police say during the night, Otunga came to where she was and defiled her after promising her goodies.

It is alleged Otunga defiled the girl many times on different days until she complained of pain in her private parts and back.

When Otunga’ wife returned, the girl told her everything after the wife noticed she was unwell.

She was taken to the hospital for treatment and Otunga was arrested.

He denied the charges before senior principal magistrate Angelo Kithinji and asked the court to release him on bail as he is a pastor and a family man.

He was remanded at Industrial Area pending an inquiry. The case will be mentioned on April 9.
