President Uhuru Kenyatta, ODM leader Raila Odinga and his Wiper counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka were among leaders who attended President-elect Felix Tshisekedi's inauguration in the DRC on Thursday.
They were accompanied by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and his Homa Bay counterpart Gladys Wanga along with senators Ledama Ole Kina (Narok) and Amos Wako (Busia).
Raila's presence is likely attributed to his official capacity as AU envoy as opposed to his political position.
This will be the first time the troubled country will be witnessing a democratic and peaceful changeover of power.

DR Congo's Constitutional Court on Sunday declared of disputed presidential elections after throwing out a legal challenge by the runner-up Martin Fayulu.
The court said the opposition leader won by a simple majority.
He will take over from long term leader Joseph Kabila.
Fayulu described the outcome of the December 30 vote as an "electoral coup" and urged the international community to reject the result.
He claimed he won by a landslide and that Tshisekedi's win was engineered by authorities.
The African Union appealed for the final results to be delayed while the Catholic church in the country said it knew who won the elections but did not say who or how it reached the conclusion.
The Southern African Development Community (SADC) momentarily called for a vote recount then quickly backtracked on the call and called on "the international community to respect...the ongoing internal legal and political processes for the finalisation of the electoral process”.
