Makadara MP George Aladwa appeared at the Nairobi area police headquarters to honour a summons but did not record a statement.

He was directed to do so at the DCI for being a witness in Nasa leader Raila Odinga's 'swearing-in' at Uhuru Park in Nairobi on January 30.

Aladwa was arrested and later released on Saturday, after police took his statement.

The MP did not record the statement

on Tuesday

as the High Court ordered the government to stop arresting opposition MPs.

He said: "We have been told to go back because we obtained a court order in the morning to bar police from arresting us (MPs). The order is in place."

Aladwa said they will seek court action for the reinstatement of their security and the return of their firearm licences.

He accused police of intimidation, saying 30 officers went to his Buruburu home in seven vehicles to arrest him.

The lawmaker asked Chief Justice David Maraga to intervene and ensure police comply with court orders.

The government started its crackdown with Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang who administered the oath. It then moved to lawyer Miguna Miguna who stamped it and then went for Aladwa.

Miguna's release was delayed despite a court order, sparking protests by members of the public and opposition politicians.

Judge Luka Kimaru earlier ordered police to release him amid protests by his supporters.

"We are being arrested for attending the swearing-in of Raila. I am shocked because they know the person who was being sworn-in.," he told reporters.

"They should first arrest Raila because I went there as a Nasa MP and ODM chairman for Nairobi."

On Sunday, Siaya senator James Orengo said the veteran opposition chief is safe and sound, and cannot be arrested.
