Residents of Kerio Valley have been told not to worry about the safety of the proposed Kimwarer Dam as it will be built to international standards. Kerio Valley Development Authority chairman Jackson Kiptanui on Thursday said the Sh28 billion dam has met all approvals for safety.
Residents raised concerns saying substandard work could lead to a disaster like that witnessed in Solai where 47 people were killed when a dam burst. “The project will be done as required and to the best standards possible,” Kiptanui said. He spoke after a tour of the site.
