Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has shifted cabinet meetings to his home in Mua Hills, Machakos county for fear of his life.

This is after the government reduced his bodyguards from 15 to four.

A CEC told the Star that they were summoned to Machakos for a meeting on Sunday evening.

“We don't know, but the governor asked us to be here,” he said.

Interior CS Fred Matiangi has said that the government was scaling down bodyguards of all VIPs, starting with the governors.

Sonko has claimed that he reads sinister motive in the withdrawal of some of his bodyguards.

He has publicly claimed that a senior government official is trailing him.
