Kandie said upon completion, the dam will apart from ensuring constant supply of water also help setting up of sewerage system in Kabarnet town.

“It is worrying how the people in Kabarnet town have survived for many years in a filth environment without a waste disposal sewer," he said.

He said his major agenda is to ensure sufficient supply of water to resdients of Kabartonjo town (Baringo North) and Tenges (Baringo Central).

He hinted that the contractor has already surveyed the site he is ready to commence the works anytime next week.

“The only challenge is that the donor (Italian government) wants to supply 70 per cent of the construction materials, so I have already arranged with the contractor to avail the list so I can submit immediately to Italian embassy,” Kandie said.

The legislator who was addressing youths and women groups assured that the casual workers shall be hired from the community.

The idea of establishment of the dam dates back to the retired former President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi.

His son Gideon Moi, the current Senator Baringo County, has however taken over his responsibility of his father and he is now fast-tracking

the dam’s phase-two project.

Kandie urges the county leaders including Governor Stanley Kiptis and Women Representative Gladwel Cheruiyot to join hands in fast tracking the work.
