Mombasa High Court is planning to introduce the Case Track System, a first of its kind in Kenya.
Over 31,000 cases will be dispensed through the system that the judiciary and UNDC are working on.
With CTS, one can monitor his case via SMS.
Judge Eric Ogolla said this will help reduce backlogs, in line with Chief Justice David Maraga's directive.
The CJ wants cases that are more than five years old terminated by December 2018.
"We will deliver justice in shortest time possible," Ogolla said.
County commissioner Evans Achoki supported the initiative.
They spoke on Wednesday when Maraga laid the foundation stone for the construction of Justice Towers at Sh480 million. It will be completed in 18 months.
The Court User Committee asked the judiciary to create courts in Changamwe and Likoni sub-counties and expand the Shanzu court.
Shanzu was to house one magistrate but there are now three.
Mombasa deputy governor William Kingi said they will support the sub-county courts.
