Ugenya MP Chris Karan has protested the appointment of Mary Omondi as the Siaya executive for education.

The education slot was reserved for Ugenya constituency in line with the regional balance goal.

Karan claimed the list was doctored to replace the name of Concilia Ondiek, the wife of former assistant minister and Ugenya MP Stephen Ondiek.

Prior to joining politics, Ondiek served as senior assistant director of education in the grand coalition government.

The legislator has accused Governor Cornel Rasanga of shortchanging the preferred candidate under influence from former nominated MP Oburu Oginga.

He threatened to block the process saying the directives must be reversed to comply with the wishes of Ugenya people.

Through his assistant Peter Odhiambo, Oburu dismissed the allegations saying Rasanga was not under any influence.

"Oburu's preferred candidate failed the interview conducted by a private firm," he noted.

"Each MP was allowed to submit the names of at least two candidates for interviews. Those suitable were recommended for consideration by the Governor."

On Wednesday, Rasanga presented a list of newly appointed CEC’s to assembly speaker George Okode after sacking all members of the previous cabinet.

Oburu's son was in the list for the tourism committee. Until his appointment,

Jaoko was the Governor's economic adviser .
