IEBC has given all political parties up to Sunday, May 21 to correct all mistakes on their respective lists of candidates.

Chairman Wafula Chebukati, in a press statement on Friday, said the commission noticed issues that the parties must correct.

During the preparation of the final report, it emerged that some parties had not included the names of running mates for presidential and governor seats.

"We also noted duplicated names and cases where candidates are missing ID numbers," Chebukati said.

He said other parties have not included gender information, photos of candidates, symbols and signatures of officials.

"The commission wishes to advise political parties and candidates that the deadline for submission of the candidates names was May 16, 2017."

This followed an extension of six days to allow parties time to finalize their respective lists.

He said the commission plans to finalise the list for onward transmission to the returning officers on Monday, May 22, 2017.

Chebukati maintained that the interim report of candidates shall be published on the IEBC’s website before close of business, Friday.

All candidates will be required pre-nomination meetings on Tuesday, May 23rd at their respective counties and constituencies.

Chebukati said the meetings will bring together political party candidates, independent candidates and returning officers.

The teams will discuss nomination requirements, qualifications and scheduling of nomination presentations to the IEBC.

"The pre-nomination meetings will be held at venues published on the commission’s website," he said.
