President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday received Dadaab MP Mohamed Dahir Duale to Jubilee after the latter defected from ODM.

Garissa county assembly speaker and three MCAs also joined the party from the opposition. They were received at State House.

Uhuru said his goal is to unite all the communities in Kenya and the Ajuran community joining Jubilee is part of the agenda.

He said that the government will transform the county as it has been doing in other parts of the country.

The President cited construction of the Garissa-Modangashe road adding that others will also be built in the county.

He ordered the release of 16,000 IDs that have been withheld as the recipients are vetted.

Uhuru also directed Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery to start the process of creating two sub-counties in Garissa.

"I agree with your request on sub-counties and I direct the Interior CS to do so," the President said.

He said they have agreed with Somalia to open the border at Liboi and Mandera for ease of movement of people, goods, and services.

Dahir said that he left the opposition because his constituents are convinced that Jubilee is the better option.

"For the first time, our people have been given IDs which they have sought and waited for decades," the MP said.

The legislator requested the President to consider works on Garissa-Daadab-Liboi road as well.

Lagdera MP Mohamed Shidiye, who led the delegation to State House, they were grateful to the President for hosting them.

"I am the only TNA MP in the Northeastern region. Am happy that I have been joined by my community," Shidiye said.

He said the community had resolved to support Uhuru's reelection during the August 8 general election.

"Currently, we have 80,000 votes in Garissa which we have resolved to give you," he said.

Also present were Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohammed and IGAD executive secretary Mahboub Maalim.

Former PS Abdulrazak Aden Ali among other leaders were also at the meeting.

Earlier, the President met a delegation from Narok and Kajiado counties led by Governor Samuel Tunai.
