Loyamorok MCA Kibet Cheretei and Tiaty MP aspirant Pepe Kitambaa were assassinated, Opposition chief Raila Odinga has said.

Raila said the killings were politically motivated since

the two would have been the strongest candidates in the August 8 general election.

“President Uhuru (Kenyatta) has failed in everything including providing security for all Kenyans. This has seen some people take advantage to settle political scores,” he said.

Cheretei and Pepe were shot dead by unknown gunmen at a nightclub in Marigat town, Baringo South at around 12.30am last Saturday. Police said they were conducting investigations and asked the public to remain calm.

Raila added that killings will take place every day, and that the situation will get out of hand, if leaders fail to address the insecurity crisis.

“Even if they were in power for 100 years, they would change nothing...they would only make our status worse as a nation. Kenyans must stand up against this government,” said the ODM and Cord leader.

“Kenyans are going through a hard time [during which] the President’s priorities are misplaced. We want investigations into the killings are the culprits arrested, prosecuted and detained."

Raila dismissed Uhuru and Deputy President William Ruto following

their remarks that the Opposition was only interested in power.

“If Ruto and Uhuru are not interested in power they should go home since they are playing with the lives of Kenyans. We want to give power back to citizens so that we can serve them better,” he said.

The Opposition leader further said

the Jubilee government has resolved to threats and

intimidation

in a bid to hide its failures.

“When we protested against this mega projects such as the SGR, which are used to steal from Kenyans, they were everywhere making noise. Our economy, security, and general welfare are at the worst levels,” said Raila.

"Someone should also remind [Interior CS Joseph] Nkaissery that he is no longer in the military so that he stops issuing empty threats," he added at Orange house after meeting the Maa delegation on Thursday.

ODM National Executive Council member Amos Lempak

said the escalating insecurity was directly linked to ultimatums issued by area politicians.

"Our mortuary

is full in

Kabarnet," he said and urged members of the public to turn up in large numbers for the August 8 vote.

Raila also made claims of an assassination after the murder the murder of controversial businessman Jacob Juma.

He blamed the Jubilee administration, claiming they used the Flying Squad to kill him and insisted that this was for political reasons.

“Juma's death was not in vain. We will avenge him by removing Jubilee from power," he told a charged crowd of anti-IEBC protesters in May last year.
