Seven MPs yesterday blamed the raging starvation on lack of a clear-cut legal framework by the state to address disasters.
They are Tiyah Galgalo(Isiolo woman representative), Dido Rhaso(Saku), Jared Opiyo (Awendo), Joe Mutambu (Mwingi Central), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Joseph M’eruaki (Igembe North) and Cyprian Kubai (Igembe Central).
They accused the government of sitting on the draft Disaster and Risk Management Policy and Bill for three years.
The draft outlined state interventions during calamities. The MPs urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to order the Interior ministry to submit the bill to Parliament for processing.
