Kenyans on Twitter have called for the arrest of a KAA employee who reportedly made sexually offensive remarks about underage girls.

On a Facebook post on Sunday, Ken wa Mwangi allegedly made sexually suggestive remarks about 11-year-old girls.

The remarks cannot be repeated here due to their graphic nature.

The Kenya Airports Authority said on Monday that it has launched investigations into the utterances.

"KAA is a strong advocate of women/children's rights and is taking this matter with the seriousness it deserves," the authority said on Twitter.

Through the hashtag #KenWaMwangi, Kenyans on Twitter called for Mwangi's arrest, saying he is a danger to the girl-child.

"This man #KenWaMwangi has skeletons! You don't just wake up and joke about raping 11 year old girls," said Afro Mum‏.

Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi‏ said: "#KenWaMwangi's company should take him to Mathare Hospital for a check-up to ascertain if he indeed has perverse sexual tendencies."

Another user, Sam Gichuru, said Kenyans should not worry about Mwangi's post but rather focus on those who liked his post and laughed at it.

"KenWaMwangi is a symptom of a much bigger problem," Gichuru added.

Wanjeri Kimondo‏ said: "When boys think its fun to joke about rape and kids #kenwamwangi. Your 15mins of fame are here @KenyaAirports look at your team."

"You don't need to have a daughter to feel how grave this violation is,you only need to have a functional brain.I want him dead,"Gerald Bitok‏ said.

But after social media uproar, the Kenya Airports Authority employee apologised for the post.

“Guys guys,,please,,am Sorry for what i posted but i just did it in a humorous way but people ended up taking it seriously.I don’t deal with kids or such stuff.i just like jokes.Again,,am sorry, forgive me people," he said.

His apology, however, did not abate the situation.

"Child rape apologist, #KenWaMwangi who works at @KenyaAirports calls this an apology? NKT," Magunga‏ said.

Harrison Bichang'a‏ said: "#kenwamwangi but honestly, if you take the utterances as a joke you are a joke."
