All is set for interviews to fill the vacant position of the Chief Justice, deputy Chief Justice and a judge of the Supreme Court. Judiciary director of communications Naim Bilal told the Star on the phone all the preparations for the interviews, which begin on Monday, have been finalised.

He said the Judicial Service Commission has notified the candidates and set time schedule. Six candidates — five men and a woman — have been shortlisted for the CJ position, while 13 applicants, all of them women, have been shortlisted for the DCJ’s job.

The interviews will start with Court of Appeal judge Alnashir Visram facing the panel. The following day, August 30, Justice Msagha Mbogholi of the High Court will be interviewed.

The EACC has filed a petition seeking to bar the judge from getting the job over a case he handled involving the Integrity House.
