[VIDEO] Raila convoy stopped by teargas on way to IEBC offices

Police fired teargas at a convoy of vehicles carrying Cord leaders and their supporters who accompanied it on foot.

A water cannon truck later chased the cars in the convoy out of Nairobi CBD on Monday

afternoon.

The protesters led by Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula's were

dispersed moments after they left the Capitol Hill offices where they had converged in preparation to address the media.

The Cord leaders were expected to issue a statement over the deaths of three protesters after the IEBC demonstrations turned bloody.

Earlier, the

protesters engaged police in running battles on University way, City Hall way and Moi avenue.

Protesters carrying crude weapons were dispersed on their way from Kibera to the city centre.

The police said they will not allow any protesters around the Anniversary Towers, where the commission's headquarters are situated.

One person and two in Siaya during protests organised by Cord to

push the electoral agency's commissioners out of office.

Among those who died was a man, who was reportedly not among the protesters.

He was allegedly shot near Tivoli centre and rushed to

l where he succumbed to the wounds.

Police also lobbed tear gas canisters on protesters at Kibera as they tried to march towards the CBD.

Most shops were closed in Kibera's Olympic area as hundreds carried stones and placards on their way to Nairobi.

Individuals trying to access the slum were being asked by the police to go back to their homes.

Most businesses along Moi Avenue and Anniversary towers remained closed.
