A man is admitted at Naivasha Subcounty Hospital with arrows lodged in his body after fresh fighting broke out in Kosovo. In the last few months, five people have been killed, scores injured and farm produce worth thousands of shillings destroyed.

The clashes broke out over the control of the government-owned ADC farm, with various communities laying claim to it.

Resident Simon Kimei said the man was attacked by a group of youth as he left his farm yesterday morning.

“There is a group of people going round intimidating other communities to leave this area,” he said.

Naivasha subcounty assistant commissioner John Opondo said police officers have been sent to restore peace.

He said the land in question belongs to the government. Opondo spoke to the Star on the phone.

“The clashes in Kosovo have turned out to be something like a guerrilla warfare and we shall take action on all those involved,” he said.

Earlier, Naivasha MP John Kihagi said he is concerned by the increased cases of land disputes in the constituency.

He said investors seeking business opportunities in Naivasha have been avoiding the town due to the disputes.

“The disputes are mainly caused by self-interest and lack of title deeds for the majority of residents,” he said.

Last month, one person was killed and several others left with arrow and panga wounds in Kosovo. More than 10 houses were torched in the clash between the Maasai and Kalenjin communities.
