Former Industrialisation minister Henry Kosgey has said he will still run for Nandi governor, despite his recent state appointment.

He dismissed claims that his appointment in March as the chairman of the Tourism Fund was meant to coerce him to abandon his ambition for Nandi governor.

Residents are tired of empty promises from elected leaders, Kogey said, that's why he will vie for the post next year.

He spoke when he presided over a funds drive in aid of the construction Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Nandi Hills.

Kosgey said he will not engage in empty rhetoric’s.

“I’m not a cheap propagandist… Let those eyeing or defending their position tell the electorate what they have done, and not discuss others,” he said.

Kosgey said those entrusted with public resources must be accountable to those who elected them.

“The money that came after the promulgation of the new constitution is enormous. We must be sincere and support the electorate instead of being intimidated by my declarations to run for the post,” he said.

The former ODM party chairman announced that he would be vying for governor on a JAP ticket and told those interested that it will not be easy.

“I have the experience and capacity… We must come together and help in revamping our county, and I rely on the support of more particularly the youth,” Kosgey said.

He will battle for the party ticket against former Agriculture CS Felix Koskei, who had declared interest in running for governor, and incumbent Cleophas Lagat, who will defend his seat.
