Thirty secondary school students were among more than 200 people arrested during a police swoop on clubs in Eldoret town on

Sunday night.

Two clubs found admitting minors have been shut down, said Armstrong Rono, director of the Uasin Gishu Alcoholic Drinks Control Board.

He said social activities, especially those involving students, had been banned in the town to stop the infiltration of illegal groups luring youths into immoral activities.

In Eldoret on Saturday, police dispersed more than 1,000 youths who had turned up for a social event allegedly linked to the banned Project-X.

The Kenya National Police Service suspected the party was linked to activities that “run counter to our moral fabric and in breach of law”.

Armed police found that the youths in Eldoret had paid Sh500 to participate in activities at the event held at Gulab Lochab Leisure Center.

Organisers denied it was linked to Project-X.

Siena Wangare, a Public Relations Officer at Colour Festival, noted they sought a licence from police while organising the event.

An incident in Nairobi saw 57 youths arrested in a house at Phenom estate in Nairobi's Lang'ata area, where they were allegedly found drunk.

The owner of the house was arrested last week and is expected to appear in court Monday. The South Sudanese National has been with supplying alcohol to minors and being in the country illegally.
