Infrastructure, health, education and a social safety net are the key priorities in Uhuru’s budget ahead of next year’s general election.

The budget policy statement said recurrent expenditures will be Sh1.09 trillion.

“In addition, expenditures will be scrutinised carefully to ensure quality and alignment to the government economic agenda,” a State House brief revealed.

“This is as outlined in the medium term plan and the strategic interventions of national interest.”

Emphasis has been given to completion of ongoing capital projects.

The focus will be on infrastructure projects with a high impact on poverty reduction.

Projects that encourage equity and employment creation will also be implemented.

Energy, infrastructure and ICT will get Sh374 billion.

Another Sh331 billion will go to development.
