THIRTY bomas will be built in Amboseli this year to prevent lions and hyenas from attacking livestock, Born Free’s president Will Travers said yesterday.

He said 219 bomas have already been built.

“This is delivering tangible benefits to thousands of people and tens of thousands of cattle,” Travers said in a statement.

“It also helps reduce conflict with predators and minimises revenge killings helping conserve some of Kenya’s estimated 2,000 lions.”

The NGO chief said solar lighting systems installed a few years ago have are not maintained.

During his recent visit to Kenya, Travers was made an honorary warden.
