ONE hundred officers from the Kenya Police Reserve in Lamu want sophisticated guns to defend themselves against al Shabaab attacks.

They said their guns are mediocre.

The officers, from Pandanguo, Kaisari, Jima, Poromoko, Nyatha, Bargoni and Basuba villages, say the government has failed to address their concerns.

They spoke in Lamu on Sunday.

The officers also want bullet-proof clothing.

Last week, three people were killed by suspected al Shabaab militia at Kaisari village in Mpeketoni, Lamu.
