Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga has urged two women leaders from Homa Bay to solve their differences.

The two are Homa Bay women's representative Gladys Wanga and Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo.

“Why do women fight fellow women leaders? For example in Kisumu I'm being persecuted by nominated women MCAs. Wanga and Millie are also embroiled in a tussle. I urge them to dialogue to strengthen women’s positions in leadership,” Ruth said.

She was speaking to the Star on the phone yesterday.

Wanga has accused Millie of jealousy over her rising star in ODM and Homa Bay.

“Jealousy has got no cure and I can do nothing about it,” she said on the phone yesterday.

She (Millie) probably feels I have overshadowed her in the political arena, but this is not my fault. I owe my popularity to the Almighty God and my party, Wanga said.

Wanga said she will run for ODM Homa Bay chairperson post, “whether Millie likes it or not”.

Speaking during a talk show on Ramogi FM yesterday, Millie said Wanga “is too young in ODM” to be fighting for the post.

The MP said, however, she will not vie for ay position in the county elections set for Saturday.

The elections were called by ODM national chairman John Mbadi last weekend.

Millie said she is ready to face the party disciplinary committee, which has summoned her over questions about her loyalty.
