Two MPs call on government to intervene over hunger in Samburu

TWO MPs from Samburu county have called on the national government to intervene over hunger in the county.

Addressing a press conference yesterday at Parliament buildings, nominated senator Naisula Lasuuda and Maison Leshomo said the 80 people who were admitted to a hospital on Tuesday ate a carcass of death cow due to the drought.

“The were admitted in hospital after eating the meat,It is due hunger and we are calling on the government to give this area attention,’Leshomo said.

Lesuuda said urged the national and the county governments to partner in relif food provision.

She said the government should buy maize farmers in Uasin Gishu and distribute it in hunger-stricken regions.

“Drought should not be a disaster at this time. It should be something the government should be able to foretell,” she said.
