FORMER Prime Minister Raila Odinga has said ODM will be rebranded and party hierarchy will have youthful representation. Raila said political movements succeed because of the vibrancy of visionary youths.

“ODM recognises the value of the youths since they are a group that has struggled for independence and liberation of this country,” he said.

The ODM leader said the African National Congress in South Africa comprised of youths and championed for liberation from colonial rule.

“No political movement has ever succeeded without the vibrancy of the youths hence the need for them to take rightful positions in ODM,” he said.

Raila was speaking on Saturday at Kogelo village in Siaya during the burial of Roy Ogolla Kohadha, who was a member of ODM youth league and a renowned blogger. Kohadha died under mysterious circumstances in Nairobi.

“We need the input of the youth, the old who have experience and the women league to complement each other for a great movement to be formed,” he said.

The Cord leader assured the youths that he is ready to hand over the ODM party leadership to them after seeking the next presidential elections.

Raila said the next election was a do-or-die tag-of-war that requires his presence to achieve the much yearned total reforms that has remained elusive for years.

He likened his current political status to that of an athlete in a relay race ready to hand over to the next person after reaching the destination.

“I am currently in a relay race with the baton in my right hand ready to hand over to the next sprinter with the left hand,” Raila said. Raila who was accompanied by Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga and Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo.
