I PROMISE: Ford Kenya aspirant Moses Wetang’ula campaigns in Kimilili town on saturday. the Bungoma senator by-election will be held on thursday.

ASPIRANTS for the Bungoma senator by-election have intensified campaigns as election date nears. Official campaighns end on Tuesday ahead of the Thursday 19 mini-polls.

On Saturday and Sunday, all the four candidates, Moses Wetang'ula (Ford Kenya), Musikari Kombo (New Ford Kenya), David Makali (independent) and Wakoli Bifwoli campaigned in various parts of the county. Kombo traversed all the nine constituencies

accompanied New Ford Kenya party leader Eugene Wamalwa. He had other six teams campaining separately for him.

A

team led by Amani coalition leader Musalia Mudavadi campaigned for Kombo in Tongaren and Kimilili constituencies. A second team led by Mt Elgom MP John Serut addressed rallies in Mt Elgon.

Wetang’ula was joined by Cord senators Johnstone Muthama (Machakos), James orengo (Siaya),

Bonny Khalwale (Kakamega) and several MPs.

They addressed rallies in Kimilili, Mt Elgon

and Kanduyi constituencies. Wetang'ula warned residents against voting for his rivals. He said his rivals have been sponsored by the Jubilee coalition.

Muthama told residents to vote Wetang'ula because of his track record. “Do not be cheated by anybody and lose Wetang’ula he is national leader

with a bright future,” he said.

Makali was in Kanduyi where he addressed several rallies. He warned electorates against recycling leaders who did nothing during their reign in power.

“I come to you with fresh and independent leadership breaking loose from the old poor leadership of self sastifaction as your subjects reel in wanton poverty,” Makali said.

Bifwoli

was accompanied by

teachers officials in Mt Elgon where he urged residents to vote him. The campaigns end on Tuesday with the lections being slated for the 19th of December

this Thursday.

Trouble is however looming

between two main contestants Musikari Kombo and Moses Wetang’ula

as to who is supposed to

have his finall rally at the popular Posta grounds.

During

a meeting with the IEBC a week ago the two engaged in a harsh exchange of words with each laying claim on the ground for the final rally.

IEBC county coordinator Ben Misiati has however insisted that Kombo booked the grounds first and informed the electoral body and the police. He has however called on the two

aspirants to engage positively to reach an amicable solution.

CORD principals Raila Odinga

and Kalonzo Musyoka are expected to land

in Bungoma on that day to drum up support for Wetang’ula.
