The everyday reality for countless taxi drivers is one of exhaustion, family separation, financial struggle, and health challenges due to fatigue.

Years of toiling under duress in the so-called 'gig economy' have left them with no savings or security for the future. Enter YEGO Taxi App, a beacon of hope for those entrapped in digital slavery.

YEGO Taxi App, a trailblazer in the Kenyan transport industry and the first company to be officially licensed by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), is set to bring this change to Mombasa on Tuesday, May 30th, 2023.

After a successful Beta Launch in Nairobi, where it has registered over 15,000 drivers and served more than 75,000 passengers, YEGO is now offering a lifeline to Mombasa's taxi drivers.

"We aim to liberate drivers from the chains of the gig economy. We're putting control back in the hands of drivers. Our low-friction approach ensures fairness to both drivers and passengers, promising sustainability for decades to come," said CEO Karanvir Singh.

“Other Apps pay Drivers on a weekly basis and charge an early withdrawal fee from drivers who struggle with a hand to mouth existence. Being a double bottom line company and Kusema na Kutenda, YEGO pays drivers instantly after every ride and without any surcharge. We are clear on why we have entered this market” said Singh.

At the launch the officials present were the Deputy County Commissioner of Mombasa, the Regional Traffic Commandant, NTSA Regional Head, and the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) of Transport and government officials.

YEGO has invested three years researching both the Passenger, and the Driver side of the business and is now ready to implement its learnings in Mombasa.

YEGO has an equal focus on passengers by being the safest in the industry, with stringent verification of drivers, a 24/7 call centre, and strategic partnerships for emergency response.

YEGO champions passenger experience with innovative features like Pair Ride, which simplifies passenger pick-ups in Kenya.

Passengers can start a ride by scanning a QR code, seamlessly transferring their destination and preferred payment option for navigation and fare calculation.

The in-app wallet allows passengers to disembark at journey's end without the need for cash or change.

"The future of Kenya's transport lies in the balance between the wellbeing of our drivers and the safety of our passengers. Our launch in Mombasa is a significant stride in this direction," Singh states.

YEGO exemplifies the power of collaboration and community engagement, aiming to transform the public transportation landscape in Mombasa, one taxi ride at a time.

YEGO’s expansion into Mombasa reinforces its vision of providing a sustainable, ethical, and driver- centric solution for the Kenyan taxi industry.

Freedom is finally here, we urge you all to join the fight against digital slavery, celebrate YEGO’s commitment to improve the passenger experience, enhance security and create a brighter, fairer future for all Kenyans.
