YouTube has announced that YouTube Music and YouTube Premium are now available in Kenya.

Following the unveiling Subscribers will now be able to watch videos and stream music without being interrupted by ads.

For years now, Google has been fighting the use of ad blockers, which have had an impact on the revenue of both YouTube and its creators.

Many users have either installed an ad blocker or other versions of the app to avoid ads, which some agree can be annoying.

To counter this, the premium version allows subscribers to watch videos on YouTube ad-free without interruption for a monthly fee.

The subscription fee varies from one country to another.

According to the tech giant, this growth signifies an achievement in its dedication to delivering an enhanced entertainment journey for users in various regions.

Through YouTube Music, individuals in Kenya will enjoy access to a vast collection of over 100 million official songs, as well as an extensive library of live performances, music videos, remixes, podcasts, and rare musical gems.

The application also provides personalized suggestions and the convenience of offline and background listening.

“ We’re excited to bring YouTube Music to Kenya as this reinforces our commitment to provide individuals access to the music they love while exploring other interesting music preferences,” said Addy Awofisayo, Head of Music, Sub-Saharan Africa at YouTube.

YouTube Premium members enjoy an ad-free viewing experience, background play, and the option to download videos for offline watching.

Furthermore, they automatically gain access to the premium edition of YouTube Music, allowing offline music listening and an ad-free experience within the dedicated YouTube Music app.

"In addition to YouTube Music, YouTube Premium caters to our dedicated viewers by providing an enhanced viewing environment, empowering them to watch their favorite content seamlessly," Awofisayo added.

Along with the launch of YouTube Music and YouTube Premium in Kenya, both services were also launched in Ghana and Senegal.

This expansion builds upon YouTube’s commitment to innovation and the exportation of culture, promising a more engaging and personalized experience for music and video enthusiasts in Kenya.
