National electricity distributor Kenya Power says it will improve its meter testing capabilities by more than double after acquiring two new single phase meter test benches.

The new equipment of 40 positions each, has raised daily meter testing from 150 meters to 390 meters, reducing turnaround time for deployment of meters.

Staff who work in the regions have benefited from 25 portable testing units which will enable them better attend to industrial customers,  enhancing resolution of customer queries  on accuracy of meters at customer premises.

The new meters are also expected to increase rate of deployment of meters and fast track resolution of issues arising from faulty meters.

Kenya Power introduced a mobile application where customers can key in meter readings for timely generation of bills and make other enquires.

They have been involved in open days where customers are engaged and encouraged to give their feedback on issues affecting their consumption.
