Coach John McKinstry has showered praises on Gor Mahia after they wreaked havoc on Vihiga Bullets at Moi Stadium, Kasarani to open a six-point gap at the top of the Kenyan Premier League.

The record Kenyan champions walloped their opponents 5-0 in a match that saw McKnistry unveil the club’s three new signings.

Ugandan striker Patrick Kaddu — acquired from Kitara FC — announced his arrival in style, bagging a hattrick in the one-sided encounter.

“We couldn’t have dreamt of a better performance this afternoon. I’m extremely happy with the outcome,” McKinstry said in a post-match interview.

The Irish coach hailed his new acquisitions for asserting themselves on their debut appearance.

“I’m glad they made a huge statement today. They gelled well with the rest of the squad and it seemed as if they have been with us for long,” he observed.

Vihiga’s tactician Milton Kidiga lashed out at his charges for conceding easily.

“We should have done much better in defence. We have picked some positives from the match and we intend to make the necessary adjustments before our next match,” Kidiga said.

Creative midfielder Austin Odhiambo opened the floodgates in the 20th minute, with Peter Lwasa doubling the advantage five minutes later.

Kaddu then went on the rampage, blasting in two quick-fire goals in the 52nd and 54th minute before returning to haunt the opponents with 20 minutes to go. The victory propelled K’Ogalo to 45 points.

KCB squandered an opportunity to close the gap on Gor Mahia after a barren draw with Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega. This left them level on points with Leopards and Nzoia United to rank fifth.

Nairobi City Stars made light work of Mathare United in an emphatic 3-0 win at Moi Stadium, Kasarani Annex.
