Bandari coach Twahir Muhidin yesterday lamented that basic schoolboy mistakes had cost them victory against St. Eloi Lupopo in the first leg of their CAF Continental Cup in Lubumbashi last Sunday.

Speaking upon arrival from the Democratic Republic of Congo on Monday night, said Bandari had conceded goals against the run of play, blaming his charges for some moments of madness which gifted their opponents the two goals.

Muhiddin, however, believes Bandari can overturn the deficit and qualify for the next round if those mistakes are corrected in time.

“We played very well especially in the second half when our opponents did a lot of ball chasing but as fate would have it, we still conceded the second goal in the 86th minute,” a disappointed Muhiddin said.

Late arrival of the key players among them Dan Sserenkuma, George Abege, Meshack Karani and Mussa Mude affected the team’s attack since the players had to be included in the game late.

“The fact is that our opponents are beatable especially considering the return leg will be here at home. We will work on the small mistakes to ensure we carry the day,” said the soft spoken former Harambee Stars tactician. Muhiddin said the team will use the two domestic fixtures to find a wining formula against the Congolese in a fortnight.

Bandari will remain in Nairobi for their Thursday opening league match against City Stars before travelling to Mombasa, where they host league newcomers Homeboyz. The team returns to Nairobi next week for their February 28th fixture against the Congolese at the Nyayo National Stadium.
