Oka principals must reach out to other top leaders and build strong alliances if they have to win the August 9 election, Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna has said.

Nguna who was speaking at Migwani market in his constituency on Tuesday said Oka must work with like-minded parties to form the next government.

"Unity is key at this crucial time in order to win the presidential elections."

He spoke after launching the distribution of bursary cheques to some 11,000 learners in his constituency.

The lawmaker's sentiments come amid rumours that ANC's Musalia Mudavadi might be on his way out of Oka.

Mudavadi has however denied claims he is being courted by Deputy President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance.

Ruto has publicly said he is reaching out to Mudavadi and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang'ula so they can work together.

However, Nguna said Oka must remain united even as they court partnerships to win the elections.

He said the Kamba community risk being out of government if the leaders don't work together.

The MP also promised to sponsor a bill in Parliament to increase CDF allocations, saying the kitty was too little to fund the needs of the people.

"Mwingi West has received Sh47 million for bursary which will be distributed to all the 23 locations but this is not enough," he said.

The legislator said many orphans are suffering and the amount given by the national government is insufficient to keep them in school.
