Mathangani Muya has been declared the winner of the Nairobi/Central & North-Eastern Region Council Member election 2024, garnering 83.94% of the total votes cast.
The election was held on Friday and Saturday.
With nearly three decades of experience in HR leadership, Muya is an award-winning mentor, certified coach, and champion for the recognition of HR professionals.
During his campaign, Muya articulated a compelling vision centred on promoting inclusivity within Learning and Development programs, advocating for inclusive policies in the public sphere, and fostering heightened member engagement.
He pledged to position the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) as a hub for HR research and innovation, and expanding the reach of HR advisory services.
By achieving these goals, Muya said he aims to advance the profession and ensure the growth and development of the broader HR community.
The vacancy was declared following the conclusion of the 1st term of the Region's Council Representative.
The notice of election was published in the Kenya Gazette on March 6, 2024, and the Elections Timetable was duly released thereafter.
After the nomination of candidates, three contenders were cleared to vie for the position during a 20-day campaign period, culminating in the elections held on April 26th and 27th, 2024.
