Nandi County Senator Samson Cherargei has urged Kenya’s First Lady Mama Ngina to keep off politics and instead preach unity, peace and love for the country.

Commenting on Mama Ngina's speech on Tuesday, Cherargei stated that Mama Ngina should attend keshas and pray for Kenya.

“What she should have done as the former First Lady is to preach on unity and love,” he said during an interview with Citizen TV on Thursday.

Cherargei further said that Mama Ngina should also focus on raising her grandchildren.

Further, he affirmed that the former First Lady has a right to campaign for any presidential candidate.

“I wish she would keep off politics. If she decides to play politics when the field becomes crowded, stay in the firing line,” Cherargei said.

Senator Cherargei added that respect is two-way traffic and that both leaders (President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto) should respect each other.

He said that it came as a surprise to him that Mama Ngina claimed DP Ruto had ill intentions yet she prayed for the duo back in 2017.

This comes days after Mama Ngina urged the Mt.Kenya region to support Raila Odinga’s presidential bid as President Uhuru has directed them to.

She further said that everything was good between the President and his deputy until the DP abandoned his duties to chase his presidential ambitions.

"He (President Uhuru) didn’t have a problem (with DP Ruto), but if your deputy shows you disrespect, would you stick there? You will move on," she added.

She also urged Kenyans to stick to good morals and resist abusive leaders.

She refuted claims by Ruto allies that Uhuru wants to maintain the status quo of the three powerful dynasties in Kenya.
