Court orders 'quack' doctor Mugo Wairimu detained 10 days

The court has granted police 10 days to detain alleged quack doctor Mugo Wairimu in order to complete investigations.

Mugo appeared at the Milimani law

courts on Wednesday for operating an illegal clinic. He was arrested on Tuesday evening in Gachie, Kiambu.

Senior resident magistrate Bernard Nzakyo granted the prosecution’s request.

Last week, Mugo hit the headlines

when NTV aired an investigative report on him for operating a clinic

in Kayole under the name Millan Health Care.

Two of his employees have been remanded for operating without valid licenses. On Thursday last week, they were charged with operating a pharmacy and laboratory without a license.

Victor Kamunya alias Doctor Victor and Risper Ogony

were also

charged with operating a lab without a license from Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board. They denied the charge.

The two were arrested after Flying Squad's head of operations John Njoroge and his team stormed the clinic with Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board CEO Daniel Yumbya.
