There is a standoff at former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero's home in Muthaiga after police and EACC detectives camped at the premises on Thursday.

The detectives from EACC accompanied by security officers arrived at the residence at 2 am.

A source close to Kidero said the officers are demanding to search his home.

"They are claiming that they are looking for documents and cash that is alleged to be here," the source

said.

The source said the governor has refused to allow the detectives into his home demanding that they show him a search warrant.

"The former governor also wants to know what exactly the warrant entails and what it is about," he added.
