A man suspected of cultivating bhang in his farm was charged in a Meru court where he denied the charges. Robbert Gitonga will remain in custody after prosecutor James Murage pleaded with the court not to release him on bond.
Meru senior resident magistrate Evans Mbicha was told Gitonga may escape if freed on bond. On September 19 last year, Gitonga was arrested in his compound at Kaaga in Imenti North. Murage further said Gitonga should not be released since the case had been postponed four times after he skipped hearing. The case will be mentioned on September 20.
