A Safaricom employee linked to SIM swap crimes was charged with computer fraud at an Eldoret court on Thursday.

Linda Najoli is accused of intentionally interfering with Anneth Jerop's line at Safaricom Care Center in Eldoret July 16. It is said she transferred Sh38,500 from Jerop's M-Pesa account.

Chief magistrate Charles Obulutsa ordered that she remain in police custody as she is to face a similar charge in KItale. She will return to Uasin Gishu county on July 31 for the hearing of her bond application.

Najoli and another Safaricom employee, Douglas Kiplimo, were apprehended in Eldoret on Wednesday afternoon. Detectives said they are wanted by the DCI in Molo, Kitale and Garsen.

Kiplimo was transferred to Garden yesterday to face similar charges.

Maurice Musoti and Rian Obaga - a fourth year engineering student, are believed to be part of the group of fraudsters who have conned Kenyans out of millions of shillings in prank calls.
