Anti-corruption court Magistrate Douglas Ogoti has directed prison authorities to escort Ann Ngirita's mother to Kenyatta National Hospital for treatment.

This was after Lucy Wambui Ngirita informed the court that she was unwell and required special treatment.

Through lawyer Cliff Ombeta, Wambui said she has been unwell, and that the treatment that she is getting at the remand is not enough.

The DPP did not oppose the application but said she should be taken to the referral hospital under guard.

The court further directed authorities to ensure all accused persons to be granted maximum security.

Jeremia Ngirita said he was afraid Chief Inspector Julius Muia - the lead investigator in the case, may try to contact him.

He has filed a damning complain letter claiming that they are business partners.

Muia has since responded admitting they are friends but denied their alleged NYS dealings.

"All accused persons should be accorded security as long as in custody. The claims by accused cannot be taken lightly," Ogoti said on Tuesday.

Lucy, who is linked to the loss of Sh468 million at the NYS, was taken ill while attending a court session on their bail hearing.

She is the mother of Ann Ngirita, Jeremiah, and Phylis Njeri - all who are all implicated in the multi-million scam.

Lucy is accused of having been paid Sh5.4 million for supposedly supplying canned beans to the youth agency.

In his argument, Ombeta said that Lucy’s condition had deteriorated following the cold conditions she was being held under in remand.

"You can see even from the hands which are now swelling. She needs urgent medical attention," the lawyer had reasoned with the judge before the decision was reached.

Lucy becomes the second accused person in the NYS corruption case to be taken to the facility after falling sick in court.

On the night of May 29, Public Service PS Lillian Omollo was rushed to KNH after she fainted.

She is still admitted to the facility although questions have emerged over her prolonged stay there.

On Sunday, the DCI enrolled the services of a private doctor to evaluate her condition to ascertain if she was still unwell.
