Kenyans who could pay Sh1 million for a royal wedding package had the time of their lives at Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club in Nairobi on Saturday.

Britain's Prince Harry and American actress

Meghan

Markle were pronounced husband and wife by the Archbishop of Canterbury in a glittering union that brought a measure of modern Hollywood glamour into the 1,000-year-old monarchy.

Back home, there was a red carpet, food by James Dennis from Soames Hotel in Nanyuki and a screening of the wedding.

The party was complete with a champagne toast and live commentary throughout the ceremony.

Inside the package was also a night for two at the hotel and a helicopter ride to Mt Kenya for breakfast.

Trainee lawyer Odette Ndaruzi, who is preparing for her own wedding later in the year, said she wanted to pick up some tips.

"I'm excited to see how the maidens in England are dressed, the jewellery and colours they are wearing," she told Reuters.

The event drew criticism from some

media, however, due to the hefty price tag in a country where millions live in slums.
