Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi was on Wednesday arrested and detained at Muthaiga police station.
This followed allegations that he abused Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on social media.
According to a police source, the suspect has been denied police bond and will face series of charges.
"Several people have been summoned to write statements over the same," an officer privy to the case said on Wednesday.
Tweeting from the police cell, Nyakundi said the Directorate of Criminal Investigations brought four cases against him.
He said Sonko, Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru, NCIC, and Kenya Power MD Ken Tarus are the complainants.

"Despite the cases being civil, they have been criminalised," he said further questioning why the detectives locked him up despite heeding to their summons.
"I honoured summons but this institution takes instructions from outside. For instance, why lock me up yet I was co-operating?," he asked.
The blogger has maintained that laws criminalising blogging were declared unconstitutional adding that what is happening to him is totally unacceptable.
"I condemn it with all my strength," he said.

He also claimed that people have now been barred from visiting him at Muthaiga police station.
