Court orders scrutiny of all forms 35A in Suna West

The Migori High Court has ordered scrutiny of all forms 35A used to declare results for the Suna West MP election.

Independent candidate Peter Masara was declared winner after votes from 88 polling stations were counted.

The IEBC declared that Masara got 19,341 votesand trounced his rival by 1,025 votes. The announcement was made at Maranatha Social Hall, which was the county tallying centre.

Immediate former MP Joseph Ndiege, who vied on an ODM ticket but lost, filed the petition.

High Court judge Hillary Chemetei said the order was issued after the petitioner agreed to the scrutiny of forms.

The exercise will be carried out in the presence of lawyers and the results produced in court by the registrar's office.

Speaking outside the court on Thursday, the petitioner’s lawyer Charles Midenga noted they will find out if the results were altered in Masara's favour.

Masara’s lawyer Omonde Kisera exuded confidence that he will be vindicated.
