Residents of Isinya sub-county have reasons to celebrate as the Ewaso Ng’iro North Development Authority has sunk three boreholes in the area.

For close to 40 years, Isinya town has not had tap water and residents have depended entirely

on vendors.

Kaputiei North MCA Joshua Olowuasa said he requested the authority to solve the perennial problem soon after he was elected in August.

"It is unfortunate that over 50 years into the country’s independence, some major urban centres in Kajiado still do not have access to drinking water," Olowuasa said.

He spoke after a prayer meeting in Isinya on January 1.

Kajiado Governor Joseph ole Lenku recently directed that the water being pumped to Makueni and Machakos counties by Noolturesh Water Company be directed to Kitengela, Isinya and Kajiado first.

Olowuasa said he also approached the Nairobi Metropolitan Ministry and that it promised to light Isinya town.

'The work on lighting the town started in earnest two weeks ago with the erection of poles."

He said tarmacking of Isinya-Konza road will start soon so travellers from Kajiado to Mombasa do not go through Athi River town.

The road 20 km-road which connects Kajiado and Makueni counties is rendered impassable by heavy rains.

The MCA added Sh15 million had been set aside to improve Ilpolosat road and another Sh30 million for the 22km Oltoroto/Embarriswai road.
