Several top KCPE pupils in Kwale have expressed disappointment with the form one selection process which they have termed unfair.

The learners reported that they were not granted admission to their first choice schools despite exemplary performance.

They attended Bethany Christian Academy in Matuga, which was the best school in the Coast with a mean score of 417.

Ruth Chaka was the best with 446 marks and had selected Alliance Girls' High School but has been called to Mama Ngina High School.

“I felt bad because I believe Mama Ngina is a school which admits students with 300 marks. I deserve to be posted to Alliance," she said.

Lucy Nyarumba, who scored 435, also expected to join Alliance but is to report to Mama Ngina.

“I didn’t expect to be posted to Mama Ngina because my marks allow me to join Alliance” she said

Baraka Rimba was third with 434 and has been posted to Friends School Kamusinga yet he preferred

Mang’u Boys'.

“My dream was to join Mang’u...I was so disappointed...I thought I would join Mang’u because my marks allow me to."

The school had 15 candidates, 12 of whom scored more than 400 marks.

Director Yong Lee said:

“This was not expected as all our students did not get invitation to the schools of their choice. We don't know what will happen to the slots."

Matters were different at Mikaela Academy where Amina Mwamosi who scored 429 marks was called to Alliance Girls' as expected.

Deputy head teacher Edwin Onyango said the selection was fair as their pupils got into the schools they chose.
