Francis Nyenze was the best husband ever, says his widow Edith

Francis Nyenze's widow says he was the best ever and a very loving husband.

The Kitui West MP

suffered

coronary cancer since 2008 and died on Wednesday morning while being treated at a Nairobi hospital.

At Lee Funeral Home where the body was taken, his widow Edith said:

"He was the best thing that God ever gave me."

She added the

former minority leader was a God-fearing man.

"He was a

politician but he was faithful to his wife. He was a Christian," she said.

Edith told journalists that Nyenze had earlier been treated in India and the United Kingdom.

She said he spoke and fed himself on Tuesday evening.

Leaders including President Uhuru Kenyatta, DP William Ruto and Opposition chief Raila Odinga have sent condolence messages to Nyenze's family and friends.

They said he was a patriot, servant leader and a champion for unity.
